The Santa Fe Opera Company's performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's comic opera, "The Marriage of Figaro," was as good as it gets. The ensemble cast of ten principal voices was perfectly balanced and suited to the complicated duets, trios, quartets, and sextets. Three arias were outstanding. The count sang a beautiful bass baritone at the beginning of Act III, the countess did a stunning with the lament of her lost love, as was Cheribino's "Voi Que Sapete," the most well known aria in the opera.
The cool night breezes and the silhouettes of the desert mountains were the backdrop for one of the finest evenings of music this blogger has enjoyed.
